(12:15 tram to Manhattan)

on a tin can telephone traveling the wire she
sparkles like cut glass A thousand stars
(and this is where they fall) glinting, jagged
into her hair - She'll bruise you and batter
you and leave you for dead but lord how
she shines when you're down that rabbit hole,
when she builds you up and breaks you -
                                        Climb up Climb out
wherever you are and cross the East,
towards destiny dancing in sequins on the
opposite shore - She'll tear you down
but when she does you better believe
she'll be lookin' goddamned pretty and
you'll always have the view, that silence
on a slack line, no You're breaking up,
no I'm losing you, it's just
                                        a
                                        long
                                        way
                                        down
