glass half empty

sometimes it’s not what’s
in the glass, it’s about who
bought it for you, brought
it to you, and you can lead
a man to water but he’ll
always take the beer from
the blonde representing the
eastern european contingent
at the end of the bar
even if he doesn’t drink,
even if she doesn't listen to
a word he says all night and

water may keep us alive
cleans the body, some might
say cleans a soul but we all
know salvation ain't that sexy
when you're hell bent and that's
how I lose, every damned time
